Opera 12.16 How to subscribe to newsgroups without getting all the posts since year dot?

Hello All,
I have been trying to subscribe to a new newsgroup, and when I do Opera starts downloading a few hundred thousand posts from the news server.
I have been looking for a setting to limit the initial download to (say) the last 20 posts, but thus far not found it.
Is there a way to do this?Cheers,

OK, Greatcoats off...not that there were any signs of helpful activity
The problem is solved.
I tried subscribing again, and this time a dbox popped up asking how many of the latest messages I wanted to receive.
Curious that I didn't get that when I subscribed previously.Cheers,

The first time you subscribe it should only load the last 250 messages, or that was the default back when my ISP still supported Usenet. Mind you, at that time if you'd unsubscribed from a group and then later resubscribed it would try to download everything since - glad to hear that was changed.
