Passwords storage

  • Hello,
in Opera 12 passwords were stored in wand.dat. Someone could tell me that file saves them the new Opera 27?.
    Thanks & regards

  • The passwords in Opera 27 are enrypted to Windows acccount on the one machine and stored in file "Login Data".

At this time you cant copy these logins to another Windows account and even after Windows reinstall/upgrade you may loose the passwords.

You can import passwords from Opera 12 to Opera 27, if not already imported at update to 27.

  • Ok gwen-dragon, thank you very much.

Passwords from version 12 to 27 are properly imported.

What happens is that I had the habit of schedule a backup of wand.dat for on a eventual restoration not miss the newest and wanted to do the same in Opera 27.

  • No chance for easy backup/restore!

The passwords are bound to your windows user's account, so you have to backup you complete Windows user data and account data. But i dont know if restore works.

  • Backup/restore is fine with the same account, but if you actually have to reinstall Windows or migrate to a newer system they will be inaccessible.
