Password manager ask to set up a screen lock

The password manager can only be used if I activate a screen lock. Message: In order to be able to use all password functions, you must set a screen lock in your device's settings.
But I have set a password lock, even with a PIN and password. But it still won't let me use the manager. Does anyone have any advice?

@stakado I'm having this exact problem right now. I am stuck with this chromebook since my computer is in storage and my phone died...and this paranoid security feature is preventing me from doing anything.
Anyone know how to deactivate this internal security or force the app to recognize that, yes, the lock screen/pin is, in fact, active....now let me check my password manager so I can log in1
