Every time I close Opera and reopen it, my tabs in different workspaces go to the workspace I was originally in before I closed it. For example, if I was just in my "School" workspace and then closed Opera, all my tabs from different workspaces would go straight to the "School" workspace. Is anyone else facing this problem, and can someone help me fix this?

@Aireonne I have the same problem, it is really annoying because I have a lot of tabs in different sections yet it keeps moving, it only happened recently too.

Your "Sessions" files might be corrupted. Try this:

          1. Organize your tabs across your Workspaces.

          2. In each Workspace, right-click the Opera window and select "Save all tabs as Speed Dial folder". Rename the folders to match the Workspaces for easy reference.

          3. Go to opera://about, copy the Profile path, navigate to it and open the "Sessions" folder.

          4. Close Opera completely. Then, back up and delete all files inside the "Sessions" folder.
This will cause your Workspaces to reset.

          5. Open Opera, go through your Workspaces, open a Speed Dial tab, right-click the folder matching the Workspace, and select "Open all in new tabs". Repeat for each Workspace.
(Keep the Speed Dial folders saved as a backup, just in case.)

@elitoncabral Jumping into this thread randomly, but i did exactly those steps few days ago and it just keeps happening. I drastically reduced the amount of tabs open but doesnt matter how many are there, they will move each time i open the browser.

I noticed that especially when I use RAM/CPU limiter; those also dont work as intended (the tabs in the background wont unload no matter what, causing the memory cap to be hit really fast)

@dontpayjustplay An update "LVL 6 (core: 116.0.5366.148) – 2025-02-20" was released, and I believe it addresses this issue. You can check it here.

Verify if your Opera browser is up to date.

As for The tabs not unloading.

              • Go to opera://settings, search for 'snooze' and check if 'Snooze inactive tabs to save memory' is enabled.

@elitoncabral It has been more than a month now and Opera GX shows no signs of any improvements. If not all, 2~3 tabs from any one of the workspaces get mixed up and they appear on startup with the workspace that opens. This is so annoying.

@sathwikhbhat Just suffered the same problem as well, the fix mentioned further above about deleting the sessions data in user profile so it can regenerate worked.
But I know that's only a temporary fix and am hoping it does get addressed soon or at the very least at some point. I don't want to have to waste my time reinstalling a browser that shouldn't have this issue since I utilize the tab workspace groups so I don't have clusters of unorganised tabs.

I have absolutely the same problem. It seems to me that this is due to the restriction function of RAM\CPU, I think the developers need to look in this direction. For example, make programmatic ignoring RAM restrictions when closing the browser so that it can easily manipulate RAM at the time of closing the browser and preserving all spaces.

It's very awful problem, I really think about changing the browser because of this.
