DevTools crashes Opera

As soon as I right click on an element and click "Inspect" or use the shortcut for Dev Tools, Opera crashes. This is annoying because I develop websites and use DevTools all day long. I don't want to use another browser just to test my applications.
Opera version is115.0.5322.119
MacOs 13.4.1 (22F82) -

Same here. I tried to send a bug report but it got flagged as "rejected" by the bots. I've tried a clean install and didn't help at all. Using Opera for windows.

@theakhrua2 Hi there! Could you please share more details about the crash? If you have any steps to reproduce it or the crash ID from opera://crashes, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

@daria19 BUG-3500 is my rejected report on the bug that bothers everyone. I even tried it on a clean install and it still breaks.
Steps to reproduce :
Can you reproduce this issue?
Yes. It happened about two weeks ago after I updated Opera.
What steps can be taken to reproduce this issue? If the issue cannot be replicated, what actions were performed just before the problem occurred?- Open Opera and load any website.
- Open Inspect elements
- Use the CTRL+SHIFT+C to activate the select element shortcut. It is important to use the shortcut and not to activate it with the mouse.
3.1 Try to hit inspect elements on a page that already has dev tools open - Opera crashes every time.

@TosDev Your steps fits my observations with two differences:
- In my case problem shows up in both cases: CTRL+SHIFT+C shortcut and choosing inspect from context menu as well.
- In my case Opera doesn't crash every time. Usually if devtools are already open and I dont't use shortcut or context menu but only inspect icon form devtools it works properly.

Problem persists in version Version: 116.0.5366.21.
On my machine it crashes exactly every second time I inspect an element. This is a deal breaker, since I am a web developer and need this function all the time.

Same issue here. When I inspect element it opens DevTools, but with DevTools opened when I click inspect again it crashes every time.
When I close DevTools I can inspect again no problem. -

@Gekiyaku said in DevTools crashes Opera:
Same issue here. When I inspect element it opens DevTools, but with DevTools opened when I click inspect again it crashes every time.
When I close DevTools I can inspect again no problem.Have the same problem. 115.0.5322.119 and 116.0.5366.21 (after an update that didn't help). I am a web developer and have been using Opera for over 15 years. I'm used to it. But now it is completely unusable. I can't work. It's horrible.

This bug is now making Opera unusable for development purposes.
I've now given up waiting for a patch and have reinstalled a December 2024 version of Opera instead, over the current version.
I went to this version: https://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera_gx/115.0.5322.113/win/
DevTools is now working OK.

@tomaustin Alas if I downgrade Opera, autoupdate kicks in and restores the latest version.
Frankly I don't understand why Opera cannot solve this problem, obviously it is a regression, the version where it started is well known, just have to look at version control.
