Can't import all my bookmarks (too many of them?)

I wanted to import my bookmarks, but it will only let my import the first few folders. I probably have a few thousands of them (mostly in the archive folder). It also doesn't let me import the 'folderless' bookmarks. Is there a solution to that?
Aside from that, those that do get imported don't work properly, scrolling within them is all wrong. I can't access those at the top, because the thing scrolls down when I point my mouse there.

Edit the folder names to make them shorter — then you can fit more folders on the Bookmarks Bar. If you organise it well, there will be room for a few root level bookmarks on the toolbar.
To organise the others, open the extender menu, and drag them into folders.

That is not the problem. The bookmarks I want to import have about 20 basic folders. Out of them, using the import bookmarks thing, I can only see 5. I suppose the problem is that the first 5 folders reached some hidden limit for bookmarks, so the others don't show and can't be imported.

If it is some hidden limit, then you could always remove the ones you've already added. Make sure you have a backup, then in Opera 12.x just delete the folders you were able to copy. Then switch back to the current version and see if it will let you import the others (or at least some of them) now ... if it doesn't work, you can restore the backup.
I have, for some strange reason, one folder that I don't see in the Bookmarks importer. And no, it is the very first folder in the file - the one where I have all my Opera-related bookmarks. Hard to imagine that a "hidden limit" would make the first folder inaccessible ...

The devs said they intentionally left the full default Opera folder (and its default partner bookmarks) out of the importing process.

I am all ears. Why on earth would they do that?

I tried renaming the "Opera" folder to “Test” in 11.64, closed it, and ran the command line on a clean Opera 19 installation. The folder was still not imported. I don't care if they want to install junk after installing my bookmarks — I can soon delete the junk afterwards.
"O:\Opera 19.00\launcher.exe" --presto-small-prefs-dir="O:\Opera 11.64\profile"
I finally got it to work by deleting this line in my bookmarks.adr file
PARTNERID=opera-operafolder

Exactly. However, that's still wrong because some people might be using the default bookmarks.
