Passwords show the correct number of characters, won't show the actual password or auto fill.

I upgraded from a Samsung s20 Ultra to an s24 ultra. To correct number of passwords has shown up, and when I click on the eye it will not show the password. It shows the correct number of dots that correspond to the length of the password for the site I'm trying to get to, but when you click on the eye that is supposed to show you the password, there is nothing there. And it will not automatically connect to the sites that it used to connect to on the s20 ultra, the previous phone. If anybody has any help, please let me know. It is obvious that the system has the passwords but it just won't let me see them, and it will no longer connect like it used to on the previous phone. I hope I explained this well, please let me know.

@draculasdentist22 When you click on the eye icon on the passwords manager, you aren't being asked to provide your phone pin?

@leocg thanks for responding. No, I am not. I see the dots which correspond to the number of characters which make up the password, I click on the eye, and nothing. I cannot copy anything to clipboard. I get no requests for passphrase or number. Sync is on. I've reinstalled, no help. It has a grand time reinstalling bookmarks, speed dials and the like. It appears to hold my passwords but won't let me see them.

@draculasdentist22 Do you have a PIN or similar in your phone?

@leocg it's a Samsung s24 ultra, yes there is a pin, it doesn't seem to have any connection with Opera. I have an opera account with name, password, and passphrase. Sync is turned on. I am not "guest", I am who I have been for years. No pin is asked for, thumbprint on occasion which works just fine. At opera's suggestion I have deleted and re-synced, 78 sites and passwords show up but as stated above no passwords are shown or auto filled. The dots corresponding to the number of characters show up so opera must have the passwords, but clicking the eye shows zero. Nothing to copy. Not to belabour the point I'm not ma newbie, I'm pretty savvy about such things, but auctions right now are two: I may be missing something, and that's what I was asking you folks for some help. Or, something is just screwy not having to do with my abilities, such as Opera is messed up on this particular issue. I have restored passwords on several phones using Opera, which I've used for many years. If there is some process where somebody knows specifically that I have to delete, reinstall, create new account, whatever, please let me know. If somebody else has had this problem and knows that Opera is messed up on this issue, please let me know that too. And I appreciate everybody's help.

@draculasdentist22 Chromium encrypts passwords stored in the passwords manager using the OS credentials. So when you go to the passwords manager to see or copy a saved password, it will ask you to provide your OS password/pin/fingerprint/whatever.
Sync has no relation with that.

@draculasdentist22 If your phone is set to not ask for a PIN, try setting it to ask one and see if anything changes.

@leocg I am so sorry everyone, none of this works. Sync doesn't work either. I am not an idiot, I've been a user since they used there own rendering program. Mostly I need Opera on my phone because it reflows text, and now I've lost 78 passwords. Any help?
