Since Opera created a browser for tablets, I had hoped desktop site would be the default or at least there be a setting to request desktop site. At very least an addon to request desktop site. I dont want mobile sites.

'Settings / Advanced / User agent' and change to 'Desktop'.

If you still get given the mobile site (sites fault), then search the sites main page for a link to the full/desktop site. Such links are usually located at the bottom of a sites main page.

Thank you. This should be in the FAQs. Menu should be more user friendly.

I do scroll down to webpages to click on 'full' site. However, when I click on the next page or a link,, a mobile webpage comes up.

Note that a few websites believe they are smarter than you are. When set to identify as Desktop the browser identifies itself as Opera for Linux, and there are a few websites which know this and therefore send Opera for Linux users to their mobile sites. Much as those of us who do use Linux - or tablets - hate it. (Yes, I have both.)

What Steve's post ?. I don't think he would be too pleased about that.

Thanks linxmint7 for the instructions. I changed user agent to desktop. I will see if websites comply.

Thanks sgunhouse for explaining how it works and prblem using linux. We both use linux and android. I have always used the preinstalled browsers in linux which are never Opera.

I need to switch from firefox for android to opera because firefox's 'Request for desktop site' constantly unticks itself, phony addon doesnt work and because tutorata.de encrypted email is not compatible with firefox for android.

I didnt buy a tablet to surf to mobile sites. Opera should develop a browser for tablets with desktop view as default or only option. I am considering discarding my tablet and returning to a larger and heavier linux laptop.
