Any difference if you turn the global system notifications setting off in Windows and then turn it back on?

@haifang I can't test with any insider builds. But, on Windows 11 Version 23H2 (Build 22631.3374), I get a notification to pin the taskbar button and allowing it works. Just tested with the 109.0.5097.38 64-bit offline installer.

@burnout426 you can join the insider dev channel to get the insider build: Go to Settings -> Windows update -> Windows Insider Program -> select "Beta channel (Recommended)"

@burnout426 Understand. But in that case, you might not be able to repro the bug with your own machine. Is there any plan for the bug?

I don't even think it's know. You can file a bug at https://opera.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/9/group/11/create/6 for this and post the bug number here. I can then FYI someone to see if they want to look at it.

In the meantime, is there any difference if you uninstall Opera and delete the install folder (it's always left behind with a few things in it after uninstallation) and then reinstall?

Also, is there any difference if you do:

                        "Opera_109.0.5097.38_Setup_x64.exe" --pintotaskbar=1

in a command prompt when you launch the installer?

                        105.0.4970.16

I assume you've tested with newer versions than that version you mentioned in your original post?

@burnout426 We tried all the above you mentioned. But we still could repro the bug. Could you please take a look at it again?

@haifang I've checked with Opera Stable and Opera Developer and couldn't reproduce it. When installing Opera, I got a notification asking me if I would like to pin Opera to taskbar.

I'm on Windows 11 Insider Beta

@leocg Our tester verified the bug and found it does not repro on NI build (226235.3430), but still repro on GE build (26046+). Could you please check on which build you verified the bug? Thanks!

@leocg seems like you did not try the bug on the right Windows build. Please join the insider, use this Canary channel (External) to get the Ge_Release build. Snip for the reference: Windows Update -> Windows Insider Program -> Get Started

@haifang I'm on Insider Beta channel. I've been on Windows Insider since when Windows 10 is still in development.

@haifang I will not change to canary channel, sorry. I changed to Beta (or to equivalent on that time) because the developer one became to complicated to follow.

Even if I could reproduce the problem, Opera most probably wouldn't fix a bug that happens only in a (pre)alpha version of an OS.

@leocg I totally understand your strategy in dealing with bugs. However, this bug only repro on unreleased Windows. it is a regression. If you persist to not fix it. I will talk to our engineer to see how to deal with it. Thanks!

@haifang I don't have any strategy in dealing with bugs, since I'm just an user. What I said was based on my long time experience with Opera and in common sense.
You can report the problem and see what happens, but the changes that Opera (or most of the software houses) will fix it are kinda low.
