Has my browser been hijacked after clicking on a search suggestion?

I have installed Opera Android on my tablet. Ecosia is my default search engine.
I was looking for Flixbus and, having suggestions enabled, I was shown keywords under the address bar.
Eventually I was even shown the whole link with the respective favicon. So I clicked on that.
But confusingly I wasn’t directed to flixbus.de but through at least two other links that appeared. Sorry for my non technical expression.
It either looked like an additional promotional redirecting by Opera or by Ecosia to generate further data. Although it could of course be kind of hijacking my browsing.
Has anyone experienced similar annoyances? It looks quite shady and I wouldn‘t appreciate, if it were coming from Opera or Ecosia. Can anybody elaborate?
At least, I uninstalled Opera and deleted my old account. I even gave Edge a try, but in all honesty I didn’t like it that much. Now I‘m here again, but wondering what had been happening to me. -

@healingcross As there's no answer whatsoever, I hope, loading up a screenshot will clarify, what I mean:
So as you see, I could easily reproduce it. But it happened to appear with other items and search engines, too. So it rather must be something peculiar to Opera.
Seems to be the same issue here: https://forums.opera.com/topic/67548/unwanted-redirect
Any answer is welcome.
