Opera losing all history

This is a strange problem. I have 3 browsers on my tablet and one of them is Opera. I had not used Opera in a few weeks and I started Opera today and I saw this message on the opening screen.

Opera Browser Has Been Updated
Your Opera Browser has received the latest security updates and UI improvements to keep your browsing experience safe and enjoyable.

Nothing else was displayed including none of my open tabs. The last time I closed Opera I had over 100 tabs open. I was surprised and upset but I thought that I could try and recover some of my sites by looking at my history. When I looked at my history it was blank. There are also no bookmarks saved or any login info saved in the password manager. It looks exactly like the first time Opera was installed.

Any ideas what happened and is there anything I can do?
