Where exactly is the Opera browser cache stored on the computer?

Dear Opera Community,

In the past, I was able to securely delete my entire browser history using CCleaner by overwriting it several times. Now this is no longer possible with CCleaner as it can no longer find the cache folder. In which folders does Opera store my browsing history on the computer?

I have searched and tried everything, but I can't find the exact folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Goto the URL opera://about and look at the profile and cache paths. History is stored in the profile folder and cache is stored in the cache folder.

Opera recently changed the location of profile-specific files and cache to be in folders named "Default". See https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/wiki/opera/new_profile_layout/ for more info.

That's why CCleaner can't find them now. If there's no setting in CCleaner to adjust the paths, CCleaner will need to be fixed and updated.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I followed your steps and found the cache. I simply deleted the files from the folders and safely deleted the recycle bin with CCleaner, but the browser history is still completely there when I restart Opera and pressing CTRL + H. What could be the reason for this?

@lenaweidt If it removed the whole history file, the correct one is being deleted?

Thank you for your answer. I simply followed the path that leads to the cache files and moved all the files to the trash and then deleted them several times using CCleaner. Nevertheless, the history is visible in Opera when I press CTRL + H and display the history.

@lenaweidt Removing the cache will not remove history or any other user data.

Okay, how can I securely delete the Internet history, Internet cache, cookies, saved passwords, last download location, session, etc.?

@lenaweidt If you don't want Opera to store any data, maybe it's better to always use a private window.
