Other ways didn't work for me.
I was only able to avoid the splash by deleting "opera_gx_splash.exe".
I'm really disappointed; as a long-time IT consultant (and Opera user) I would like to know who made that strange choice. -

If you've disabled the splash screen option in Opera GX settings but still encounter it, you can try the following steps:
Check for Updates: Make sure your Opera GX browser is up to date. Sometimes, updates can address such issues.
Clear Cache and Cookies: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can resolve various issues. Go to Opera GX settings, find the "Privacy & Security" section, and then select "Clear browsing data." Choose the time range and select "Clear data."
Extensions: Some browser extensions may interfere with settings. Try disabling or temporarily removing extensions to see if that resolves the issue.
Reset Opera Settings: If the problem persists, you can reset your Opera GX settings. Go to Opera GX settings, navigate to "Advanced," and then select "Restore settings to their original defaults."
Reinstall Opera GX: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling Opera GX. Make sure to back up your bookmarks and important data before doing so.
After trying these steps, restart Opera GX, and the splash screen issue should hopefully be resolved.

@makezu said in Can't disable splash screen:
Opera://flags -> #opera-one-introduction -> Disabled
I have just applied this. Hope it works.
I recommend everyone send feedback to Opera to add a standard option to disable the splash screen.

I agree, but do they listen to us? I don't think so. For instance, look how thick is tabs+address bar area, and they received a lot of complains about that, did they do something? No.
Its first time when Opera has a untidy look and feel than Edge, and no one cares ... -

Guess what? Disabling #opera-one-introduction at opera://flags/ did not get rid of the annoying time-wasting splash screen that now appears at the start of each new version.

@chawke Unfortunately, this does not work. Still plays the splash screen with sound after update of the browser.

The update is not too frequent and not that loud so I usually don't mind it but this morning I had Eric Andre screaming "Opera GXXXXX" at the top of his lungs at an earsplitting volume after the update noise and it was seriously jarring. Flashbanging me with sounds like that with no volume controls and no way to turn them off is a good way to get me to ditch this browser and never look back.
Can we get controls to turn off or adjust the volume of the browser update noise when you first launch GX after an update?
And before anyone comments "change the volume in the volume mixer" the volume is already carefully tuned to play with every other media website I visit to balance for the varying volumes the media plays at.

With the most recent update, everytime I open opera gx there's a slashing animation and then Eric Andre starts screaming in my ear for no reason is there any way to disable this because I couldn't find it anywhere as an option and it's very triggering

@flaviu2 Opera is purposely forcing the splash screen on every start right now to show the Eric Andre splash screen.
