How to remove second new tab button

They added a second button right next to the already existing button for creating a new tab. This makes it really annoying to close a tab because I end up creating new tabs. I'm not sure why this needs to exist. I've been using this browser for 15 years, in the past 2 years I can't understand why you are making it more annoying to use than ever before. I get that new leaders need to change things to justify their existence but you could make better changes instead.

@lanadrahlaer That's the add new tab to tab island button and there is no way to remove it as far as I know.

@leocg Thanks for getting back to me. Maybe I'll just switch to Firefox. I can barely tell what tab I have open because they are all grey now. It's just getting really annoying using this browser and worse every update.

@lanadrahlaer i have the same problem this same new plus button is so annoying and i can not find a way to turn it off. why did they make this mandatory i don't understand. i am also using opera so many years and it's very annoying to get used to this new pointless "feature"

You can avoid it by not using tab islands. At the URL opera://settings/userInterface, disable "Automatically create tab islands". And, never manually create tab islands.
