Opera GX keeps changing YouTube volume and it's driving me nuts

- Windows 11 up to date
- Opera GX latest version
- Opera in 2nd display, with a YouTube video playing in popout
- Playing games on main display (Destiny 2 and Titanfall)
Volume of the YouTube video in popout player keeps getting lowered to ~ 20%, when usually I keep it anywhere from 50-80%. I don't have any extension related to audio AFAIK (only Raindrop and 1Password installed).
While I do have a Hollow Knight mod pack to change the theme and add various browser sounds, this still happens even if I disable that mod. This is driving me nuts, and Opera's stupid ChatGPT help but is utterly useless. Anyone know what's going on?

@infinitehench As said, volume on video pop-out follows YouTube's normalized volume.

@leocg This is odd, I've never heard of the 'normalized volume' thing before. And it doesn't behave this way in Safari or Firefox. Volume stays wherever I set it. This feels like a bug in Opera, wouldn't you think?

@leocg I'm encountering a similar problem, but instead the volume is getting raised to 20ish% (I want the audio around 10%).
I'm having trouble finding documentation from Youtube concerning the popout volume normalization. The best I can find is folks mentioning in passing that it will lower the volume under certain conditions for music.
Can you point us to the Youtube documentation you're referring to?

@anthonymulberry I don't know any official YouTube documentation about volume normalization.

How can this seem like anything but a bug? I just tested this in Chrome as well and it doesn’t happen. This really seems to be an exclusively Opera problem and entirely unintended behavior. Where else is a volume slide expected to randomly change up or down after the user sets it to a specific place?

Digging this topic out as there still seems to be no fix, i just encountered this problem myself. Annoying as f***.
