This new Opera is ridiculously bad

Jesus Christ. I was a huge Opera fan.
When the new Opera came out it lacked every feature that made Opera unique. Then it was promised that all the features would come back.
Now we are more than a half year further and this browser still gigantically sucks. There are no features added at all and it is buggy. This is the worst browser ever. What the hell is going on there? I guess you guys are not devoted anymore to create a good desktop browser. It seems like all recourses go to the apps on Android/iOS. You can better shut down this company because nobody wants this browser anymore. The whole Opera spirit is gone.

Exaggerate much?

Many of the features that made Opera unique had come to be copied by other browsers, and many of those were included in the new Opera.

That was never promised. In fact, it was promised that not all features would come back.

That is incorrect. Features have been added, whether or not you like them or their implementations.

I disagree. Mosaic and early IE, IMO, were the worst... but only because they were developed during the infancy of the Internet.

I too am not a fan of the New Opera, but common sense tells me that nobody paid to develop a new browser would not also be devoted to doing what they deem a "good" job. It's just that you don't see "good" in the same light as them.

Somebody must, else there'd be no new Opera version downloads or occasional requests for technical help in these forums.

That remains to be seen...

Wow I agree. I was messing around today (time on my hands) and thought I would check out Opera. Opera has been off of my desktop for a long time. I downloaded and installed. What a waste.
Opera has very little to no ability to customize settings. I remember the thing that made me move from Opera was the problems with its overly aggressive protection of HTTPS and not opening HTTPS sites such as bank sites. Now Opera has taken leaps and bounds on not allowing a personal user experience.
What made me realize the inability to change any setting was when I tried to change the PDF program that Opera uses to open a PDF file. There is no freak'in way to do it. Chrome has several ways to accomplish it; enable the Chrome PDF reader; enable Adobe Reader or enable a third party PDF reader. Opera --- not one choice that I can find.
How fast can I un-install this Opera and recover hard disc resources.
Opera already had a hard time keeping market share and now............well Opera is dead. Nobody has informed the body that it is dead.

We really don't need any more of these freakin ridiculous rant threads.
To change plugins for PDF in Opera 19, in the File menu, enable Developer tools, in Developer tools, select plugins. Disable the PDF plugins you don't want to use, and enable the one that you want.

Thanks.
Went there and enabled Adobe as reader but the page would not render. Sorry but it isn't going to work for much of my everyday use. I'll need to make Chrome my business browser.
BTW I remember you from the old days. You still seem to dismiss the user as someone that has no point. Still arrogant eh?

Unlike the arrogant fools who come here just to rant, I don't need to change my username. What happened? Did your earlier account get banned for trolling or personal attacks?
This is a user2user support forum. Use it for its intended purpose. If your opinions are expressed politely, they won't need to be dismissed as just temper tantrums.

Nope...sorry I wasn't banned. I stopped using Opera and stopped participating in the forums. It has been so long, so many computers ago that I can't even remember my screen name.

If you weren't banned (and we have only your word as proof of such), you should have been. You're a :troll:

It's awful. The fact that there are tons of threads like this, while just a tiny handful of Opera fanboys defend it (usually while insulting people) is evidence of that. According to some of the folks above, you can only express an opinion about Opera if it's positive. If you think the new version is awful, you have to keep it to yourself, you're arrogant, an idiot, you must have been previously banned etc. etc. You should take solace in the fact that you're not as sad as those folks who clearly have literally nothing else to do aside from defending a web browser like it's their own child.

Wrong. You can express your opinion if it is negative, as long as it is done politely.
I am no fanboy of Opera 19 — I am still using Opera 11.64, and freely express my negative opinions about defects in Opera 12.xx that prevented me upgrading.

I think the last Opera I used was around 9>10.
Apparently there was a major overhaul to Opera and a lot of people aren't thrilled with it.
I do remember that anyone that would disparage Opera would have a lot of arrows thrown their way. That I do remember and it sometimes seems like there are those that like Opera in a cult like manner. Example is the person on this thread that is naming me a troll. I guess only people with positive thoughts are not a troll.
There was a time that I never ever would have considered leaving Opera. I liked the idea of having the browser / mail combo. Like I said the real reason for trying another browser was the bank problem. I imagine that today, many Opera versions later, the HTTPS & banking should not be a problem.
I do use Opera on my small android appliances and it is a good browser on them.
Does this Opera version have book marks? How about ad-blocking? Can I add Evernote web clipper?

What a load of tripe. First off... this is NOT a rant forum; it's a Help forum. You've not asked for help. All you've done is whine and that is against the terms of service. You are aware of the tos, right? Secondly, no one is forcing you to use Opera 18. Continue using an earlier version since you happen to like its features and that really is the end of it. Opera has been developing Opera Blink now for a year. The former Presto developers' team has essentially been disbanded and some have left Opera altogether. Your whining serves no real purpose. If you want to see changes made to the new Opera, then visit the developers' blogs and politely request changes there... not here. Once again, this is a Help (not Rant) forum.

Translation: "You can express your opinion if it is negative, as long as it is something I agree with".
Seriously, you're one to talk. You're rude to nearly every new member that posts on this forum and has a complaint about Opera.

If it's not a rant forum then why do you go into nearly every thread ranting about people ranting? Both you and Pesala have an odd definition of "helping" someone. Every time someone asks a question or makes a complaint it's either "search the forums" or you and Pesala b*tching about them having a complaint and telling them to deal with it.

I did ask for help in my first post about changing the PDF viewer. Rant yes but I was wondering what has happened to Opera.
You are correct nobody is forcing me or you to use Opera. I don't think the TOS says anything about complaining, if it does it would point out a very anal aspect to life at Opera.
I title of the site is my.opera.com/community/forums it does not have the word help in it. That is a figment of your imagination. In fact it does have community in it. Community also means discourse and part of discourse is exchanging thoughts, ideas or writing about a subject. I've given some of my thoughts and those were that Opera made a bad turn. I still see posts where people are having problems with Opera and Bank sites. After all these years and still having problems with bank sites. Bank site problems was a main reason I left Opera. One answer said to us IE.
From the MyOpera front page -- Opera forums - a place for you to get in touch with other Opera users for discussions, troubleshooting, and sharing ideas. Discussion doesn't mean it will always be a positive flag wave for Opera.
If it is not a rant forum....why do you keep ranting about people. At least others may rant about a product but you rant about people. Why?
In your mind a discussion is only valid if it satisfies your ego. I look and see you do it all the time. In the Jon S. von Tetzchner isn't happy thread you again tell someone that it is a "help" forum and they accurately point out to you -- "The heading for this forum is simply 'Discuss the Opera browser'. The OP seems to conform to that requirement."MyOpera says that people are here to help. So help me and answer my question, where are the bookmarks?
I'll be moving to Discussions and Debates because Opera says -- "The problem with this forum is that a small number of members are discussing many issues. It's clear that they won't always agree"
IF you don't want rants between and about people......don't start the rant. It is as easy as that.

The fault was yours — you were the one who joined this thread, which started with a rant for a thread title, with a rant of your own.
1. Don't make inflammatory posts or threads just to stir up the forum or blog. Don't exaggerate just to make a point. Respect your fellow community members, and don't vent your frustrations at them. No trolling.
2. No personal attacks. Attack the idea, not the person. Never post negative forum threads about other forum members.
So read the forum rules again, and follow them. Then you will get the help you need without the criticism of your bad manners.
Please respect the forum rules, post in the right forum, stay on topic and be friendly.

The part about not ranting at people who post was aimed directly at Lueshino. I did a quick search and he or she is always slinging arrows.
Your response after my post was not needing anymore of these kind of threads. It made me stand up on my hind legs and I called you arrogant. I should not have doe that but it brought up past times when I saw so many (lack of a better word) fan boys who would just name call when we complained about Opera changing.
I did read the forum rules and I think Lueshino should read them several times. The rules are to stay friendly. I go to a lot of different forums and this I can say with a high certainty, the Opera forum was always one that the tireless supporters would always name call to anyone that had a negative point.

Now back to a question....am I correct, there is no bookmarks anymore? I have a stable version. Looks like I'll get an update when I restart.
19.0.1326.47 - Restart Opera to update to version 19.0.1326.56

If you need help, ask for it. Otherwise respect the terms of service and stop the personal attacks on me. I see you've been a member here for a few weeks. I've been here for many years and an Opera user since 2000. It's apparent that you took out a membership to do nothing more than rag on Opera. It won't work. Opera has made its decision so either live with it, continue to use an older version or find another browser. And I suggest you put me on your Ignore list. YOU are now on mine.

Find your own answers. Rule #1 is “Search before posting.”
You have no respect for others, and have done nothing here to earn the right to sling arrows at others when they object to your disruptive behaviour on these forums. A new kid on the block, after an absence of years, and you think that people should be nice to you when you are just throwing tantrums.

Yeah, well. But for each such request in the forums, there are like five or ten posts criticizing what has become of Opera.
And if you think they're all clones or something like that, look at the comments from the users in this post about Opera posted yesterday on a general tech news website: http://linux.slashdot.org/story/14/01/31/1629253/former-dev-gives-gloomy-outlook-on-linux-support-for-the-opera-browser
The amount of people who "want this browser anymore" seems to be diminishingly slow.
By the way, I have downloaded all the new Developer versions, and posted a help request in the forum, but it's not because I want this browser. It's because I still check every version because I have a tiny bit of irrational hope in that it can recover part of the old glory.
