how to disable this?

Use ctrl + pageDown and ctrl + pageUP instead. Or, at the URL opera://settings/keyboardShortcuts, remove ctrl + tab and ctrl + shift + tab from the "cycle forward through tabs" and "cycle backwards through tabs" commands respectively and add ctrl + tab and ctrl + shift + tab to the "switch right through tabs" and "switch left through tabs" commands respectively.
