@voswouter87 How to reproduce the issue? I've just checked here and I was able to mute the tab by clicking on the speaker.

@leocg there is no specific steps to reproduce it, it's just a click that doesn't work.
Make sure you are on: 98.0.4759.15 and Windows 11? -

@tbo6 Yep,same Opera version and OS here. Clicking on the speaker mutes/unmutes the tab.

@leocg I made a small video: https://gyazo.com/8897f92c83864943fa8231418e678fb9
You can see I'm clicking, nothing happens. -

@tbo6 Any difference if you disable all extensions? What about resetting settings?

I'm on: 98.0.4759.15 and Windows 10, and same problem here. Mute/unmute button does not work since yesterday.

@leocg I can't do this as this is my working PC but I tried in "Private mode" and interesting the mute is working here.

@tbo6 What means that probably an extension is causing it. Can be also a broken profile.

I have the same problem, and I'm on: 98.0.4759.15 and Windows 10
@leocg I disabled extensions in my browser too (I don't have much of them anyway), but it does not work.
What do you mean with the "broken profile"?
It happened right after last update. It was working fine, and after update/restart it does not work anymore... -

@tbo6 Then a setting or a broken profile.

@leocg There must be something that Opera has broken since the majority on this thread it doesn't work.

@tbo6 go to opera://update/, click on Recovery and choose the option to keep your data. Check if that helps.

@leocg Opera completely crashed when I tried recovering but the speaker mute is now working. Have to reset all my sidebars.

It's a bug that has been in the two latest stable versions (.6 and .15). The controller controls the tab two spaces in front of it. Unless it's the first tab, which will work properly:

@werbatim Sometimes when you have an old profile directory, things may get kinda messed up as the updates (and its changes) happen. Most of the times, just resetting the settings help, but there may be occasions that may demand the creation of a new profile directory.

@leocg The recovery option fixes the issue initially, but after readjusting settings (by manually doing it through Opera) and restarting the browser it bugs out again (without any extensions enabled). Not sure exactly what causes it. Too much of a hassle for me to reset everything again to locate the issue though.
I just did: Recover > Sound control worked (without restarting browser) > Adjusted my settings and cookies/logins > Restarted browser (tabs disappeared) > Went through the "first time setup" wizard > Reopened my tabs from saved folder > Then sound control was bugged again when I tried using it
My extensions were enabled at some point in between all of that, but disabling them doesn't work now.
It might be something Opera updates on restart, perhaps with certain nonstandard settings set. Regular tabs are affected. It works correctly in private tabs with the same settings and my usual extensions enabled.
Browserjs is also jank in this version, and has to be disabled on restart for certain sites to function.

@nordlys Probably a setting got messed up with the update, the only way to find out which one is by changing the settings one by one until you find the one to blame.
