Most modern chromium based web browsers now come with at least some kind of built-in translator mechanism already available in the settings area of their browsers. Unless I've somehow missed it I don't see where the opera browser has anything like that currently available. I decided to give the opera browser another try after a very long period of time has passed, but without a translator function already available at least for me this is a huge turnoff.

@davyp Opera doesn't have a built-in translator but there are lots of extensions that claim to do that. Also you can add a translation page as a search engine and use it.

          Hi,
It's always great when someone takes the time to respond to a user's of the browser question, at this point I'm using opera on what I'm labeling as a 'trial' basis. Having tried the browser a long time ago I just all of a sudden on a whim decided to try it out again to see if & how much it's possibly changed. As I already have other chromium based browser's installed on the ms windows computer I'm typing this reply on, that's my reasoning for doing so. I Really would have thought by now that the developers of this browser would have implemented having a translator mechanism included by now, by the way & just for your reference one of the other browsers I'm using on my desktop computer was developed in part by a man who used to work at opera & is responsible in a large part for the vivaldi browser that in fact does have a translator mechanism already built into it.

You can install the official Google Translate extension. Just pin it so it shows on the address bar. Then, whenever you want to translate a page, click the icon and choose "translate this page". Or, you can select text and click the little icon that pops up to get a translation of the text.

@devadip68 Opera for Android just uses the Android one like any Android app.

                  Hi,
I appreciate all of the responses, I had been using a different extension but I deleted that particular one and have now went ahead and installed the official google translate extension instead.
