Opera is crashing after forcibly unlocking the folder it has locked for upload
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Try to create a folder in the desktop. Have a few files.
-
Use Opera to go to any website and upload these files through that website. Opera should be made to choose from this folder.
-
Now after upload completion, minimize all windows and go to Windows explorer and try to delete that folder. Windows will complain that the folder is in use. Now use FileHunter or another similar Windows application to unlock/delete this folder.
-
Now go back to Opera. Try to use some websites where file upload is present. On trying to use file upload functionality, the opera will crash and there is no indication in opera://crashes also.
Browser Version for Technical Troubleshooting:
Other similar Windows applications that lock the folder but lose the folder handle to external unlocking elegantly handle the same by reverting to the default folder location like Desktop or My Documents. Hence Opera should also be able handle the situation similarly.

What about Chrome, Vivaldi, Brave, and Edge specifically?

Does Opera retain a lock on the files/folder after the upload is complete if "Show popup with clipboard and recent downloads when uploading files" is off at the URL
opera://settings/userInterface
when you start Opera? -

@burnout426 I have the clipboard feature on actually. Let me verify that issue and post that too.

@leocg I just found out a file in the following location
In the %appdata% folder, CrashDumps folder found the following file:
opera.exe.14784.dmp
The file timestamp seems to be at the same time the crash happened. Is there a way I can share this file to see if any thing Opera developers could parse to find the reason for the crash.
