Impossible to disable the automatic update of Opera browser

@leocg I will give up and definitively uninstall Opera. But I will lose all my favourites and bookmarks. That's the probleme. Opera browser is announced by google as the worst browser for computers. I begin now to understand why...

@leocg Once this june version is installed, Opera immediately updates the browser to the newest version.. Thats a huge big probleme for me.

@operator777 Download "Opera_88.0.4412.27_Setup_x64.exe", to your downloads folder, hit Windows key + r to open the run dialog, type
cmdand press enter,In the command prompt, type
cd "%userprofile%\Downloads"to change to your downloads folder where Opera_88.0.4412.27_Setup_x64.exe is at. Then, type:Opera_88.0.4412.27_Setup_x64.exe --launchopera=0and press enter.
Then, Opera will install without starting and without automatically updating.
Then, before (has to be before) you open Opera, rename opera_autoupdate.exe in the "88.0.4412.27" folder in the install folder. Then, disable Opera's autoupdate tasks in the Windows Task Scheduler.
Then, and only then, can you start Opera.
This method will work whether you're connected to the net or not, But, you can disconnect from the net after downloading Opera_88.0.4412.27_Setup_x64.exe just for extra good measure if you want, and the installer won't need the net at all to install.

@operator777 You should be able to export your bookmarks, so you can import them 8n the new browser.

@operator777 Then download it, disconnected from the internet, run that offline installer, rename the auto update executable for that build, connect to the internet again and you should not get any automatic updates.

@burnout426 Ok, I ll keep this method for later because I just tried a new method : Install old version of Opera but without any internet connection.
It seems to work but I m not enthousiasitic because last time it worked 5 days and then the auto update tasks and files reappeared and installed the newest version.
I ll keep an eye on it and will come back to you for feedback.

@operator777 Why? Just go to C:\Program Files (or wherever programs are usually installed on Windows 7, find the Opera directory, the build folder, the auto update executable and rename it.

You dont explain how to do that, step by step...
By the way, I noticed a new file in this "opera folder". It's called "Manifest File". Do you know what is it and what is it used for ?

@leocg Since I did the new method, the opera logo in the corner of the browser, has become red.
It recommands me to secure the browser with an update...
Should I do that ??

@operator777 I guess it was explained in this topic before. Also, you it should not be that difficult for you to search how to do that.
So, as said, you basically copy the path to the installation directory that you find in opera://about and paste it in Windows Explorer.
To rename the auto updater, right click on it and select the proper option.

Heuh no, I did not do that, i just deleted the autoupdate files in the opera folders, then delete the taskfiles in the windows cmd.
How do you rename this file and where is it situated ?

@operator777 You can rename or delete opera_autoupdate.exe. So, if you deleted it, then that's fine.
