Hi,
A few days ago I was in the midst of bookmarking a page, and the blue screen popped up, it said "your computer ran into some issues and needs to restart". It listed the reason as Memory Management. When I loaded opera the bookmarks were gone. I have gotten these blue screens before and I'm working on fixing it, but it never affected the bookmarks before, I think me engaging the bookmarks resulted in them disappearing.
I tried renaming the bookmark .bak and file (didn't work). Thing is i can see my folders and bookmarks in a text editor, but nothing on a browser. Do i need a file repair program? Should I switch back to Firefox?
Any tips would be appreciated. I bookmark almost every other day (have hundreds of thousands of bookmarks plus speed dials), but i can get a backup from 9 days ago. That is if it's a complete upload and not partial *shudders in remembrance of uploading incomplete bookmarks *
P.s I have Windows 10, and my version of opera is 91, was 90. Since then, my opera has updated itself (didn't want it to), and one of the people i share the computer with added some things to speed dial (i deleted them and emptied the trash). My history is intact, and everything seems normal. My other browsers are also fine. Thanks again. -

While Opera is closed, the idea should be to move the "Bookmarks" to your desktop, copy the "Bookmarks.bak" file to your desktop (so you have a backup), and rename "Bookmarks.bak" to "Bookmarks". Sounds like you did that though and it didn't work.
I would try making a test standalone installation though and replace its "Bookmarks" file with your backup that as everything in it (as far as your text editor shows). If that works, maybe there's something more wrong with your regular Opera than just bookmarks. But, either way, in the standalone installation, you could export your bookmarks to an HTML file where you can then import them (into your regular Opera with a fresh Bookmarks file or start with a whole new profile folder and then import them).
If that doesn't work, try https://rongjiecomputer.github.io/chrome/bookmark-recovery/#windows if you don't mind uploading your bookmarks somewhere.

Yes, i did try renaming. Didn't work. Installed opera on my laptop and tried putting them there. nothing.
That bookmark reco link said there were zero bookmarks on the .bak file. Strange since i can see stuff in notepad. I'm running out of ideas. -

@criminallime You can zip up the bookmarks.bak file and send it to my email address listed on the about page and I see what's up with the file.
