So, I intend this one for everything about Side Panel issues with truOpera(s) — meaning Opera Presto - aka Opera≼12 (and a ghost of 13*;)*).
Please post your questions, reports, and so such type of experience with your Side Panel - providing it's relevant to and about truOpera (Opera≼12.xx).

      Right now it's my issue.
Look, I can actually close any tab – and the page gets deactivated - with all its content like plugins, games, streams ― ie I'll have to actually reactivate all that stuff if I open that page again. Right?
But I can't seem to actually close a page in my side panel ― to the extent the content's the same and/or the stream can even boo me playing straight from the first moment I start the browser next time.
I tried hitting the closing cross on that panel tablet - then hit on the icon, and as if I could've not bothered... :/<hr>So the question ― is there a way to actually close/deactivate the page I've been using in that panel?

I don't think you can close a tab from the side panel.
You can only close it by clicked the x on the tab (if you've got it set to be shown) or by double or single clicking on the tab, depending on how you've got that set up.
Ctrl+F4 should close the active tab too if you want to do it with the keyboard.
        🙂

Still in mourning for Opera 12.........

I don't know, maybe it's a glitch when the content keeps active and the page just gets like hidden/minimised.
I hit "close", then wrap the panel; then I call the panel, hit that icon - and the page is o'k as if never closed (eg a station in the Radioplayer: when one calls it first time, it starts streaming; but before I try to close it, I hit 'stop' - and it stays that way and comes that way).
I don't know, a coupl'a times I remember "having closed" a stream page, but the starting Opera had it active already while the Panel was wrapped etc. - straight away upon opening. A coupl'a times it was, then I must've managed to somehow close it...
I don't know, maybe it was a glitch, but... Did I forget to "close" the stuff? This session it seems that it won't actually close, so upon all the previous booing I decided to ask for some help/advice, whatever...

The combination ain't closing the "panelled" tab - it only closes the mainframe tab: I tried "focusing" into the former before "ctrling", too...

Not quite sure by what you mean by a "panelled tab".
Open tabs are not listed in any panel as far as I'm aware, although information about them is listed in the "info" panel.

You can close a tab from the Windows panel via the mouse - either right-click > Close or middle-click. Via the keyboard ... well, you can always use the menu key or Shift-F10 to show the context menu, but it would be nice if there were a better way.

Still confused actually, aren't sidebars and panels the same thing?
How are you getting that list of "windows" in your sidebar, I can't see any way of doing that!
Just interested because I didn't think you could do that.

@davehawley, Click the '+' button in the tool bar at the top (inside) of the panel and you should see a list of things you can insert in to the panel (Bookmarks, Mail, Contacts etc), and 'Windows' is one of them options.

It's an image from the net! 😕
Still it's simple: heed the icons on your sidebar - what do you see? (hint - neerer the bottom end (depending on your set though))
I too have a "Windows" folder (or similar) in my bookmarks, so...:P

Linux, the last built (that I have and am referring to) came up to me with some already preinstalled shit. Like some search engines (in the box), bookmark folders, panel items...
There were no "Windows" there, IIRC, though.

Windows is built-in but not displayed by default. Old Opera terms, the "sidebar" was the Hotlist, items which can be displayed in it are hotlist panels. I always turned off History, Links and Downloads, and enabled Info and Windows. And added the mobile view of my weather site with Small Screen mode enabled, and the TOC from opera:help

Well that's interesting, "Windows" was not available on my Opera as something that could be added to panels when I looked earlier, but I've just looked again, and now it is!
I don't know what would have suddenly enabled it, the only thing I did was toggle between different skins, but that certainly didn't bring it back immediately.
Anyway, I can finally now see what joshl has been talking about!

You seem to be able to close a tab from there by right clicking on the entry in the panel and selecting "close", but there doesn't seem to be a keyboard shortcut associated with it.
Perhaps it would be possible to set one up in the ini file.

Ah, Hotlists. Now you're making me all misty-eyed!
                                  🙂

Where exactly should I place the cursor? (I'm not with Opera right now.)

Don't do it on the top entry, which appears to show the name of the active tab, or Opera will completely close!

                                        Icon on the very bar?
It seems to me that I did. There were three options, and none of them resembled what we're talking about, IIRC. (Note that I have this built "localised" like pseudorussian, so... But if you mean the last, third item (option), that one 'sounded' to me like "remove from panel" not "close" (Or was it third?).)

I've got Activate, Restore, Minimise, Maximise, Pin Tab, Close, and Reload, in that order, if I right click on the panel entry for a tab.
