So what happened to the Home Page/Alt+Home?

Most every browser uses the same keyboard shortcut for going "Home". Usually you activate the Home button, set the page, then you can disable so it doesn't clutter your screen. But I can't see that option anywhere in Settings. Can't find anything relevant in Keyboard Shortcuts either. Didn't see any manual way of adding it.

OK thanks. So there's no way of getting to an address with a keyboard shortcut like normal? If you are doing this many times a day it halves the workload!

There's https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/shortkeys/ that has an option to set a keyboard shortcut to open the URL you specify.
There are some downsides to it though:
-
It doesn't work on the start page (even if you use the --extensions-on-chrome-urls command-line option).
-
It won't work on search engine pages unless you enable "Allow access to search page results" for the extension. Not a big deal to enable it though.
-
The keyboard shortcut might not work if the cursor is focused on a text field on a page.
-
If the URL is already opened in a tab, the extension will focus that tab instead of creating a new one. The action for opening a URL is "Jump to tab or URL", so that makes sense, but it may be undesired. Edit. I guess if you don't specify a match, then it'll always open a new tab.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shortkeys-custom-keyboard/logpjaacgmcbpdkdchjiaagddngobkck works a little better as it has an option to work in text fields. But, it still doesn't work on the start page.

You could install https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-start-page/mjfahldkpjhcnfbbmdhpjolcjpcfhcpj to override the start page with the URL you want. Then, you can just hit ctrl + t and it'll open that URL.
