Downloading security updates

I tried downloading the security updates for the Opera on my laptop but it is taking a very long time to download -- the bar does not even move -- that I believe it is not working at all. It happened to me too when I tried to download GX before so I just stopped. Also, whenever I try to update Opera via Update & Recovery, a prompt that says "An error occurred while checking for updates" just always appears. Does this happen to anybody else, too, or is it a problem on my end? Hope someone can help. Thank you.
