I would like clarification also. It sounds like:
-
You're using the Opera Mail POP/IMAP client that's built into Opera 12.x or the standalone Opera Mail POP/IMAP client that's here.
-
You don't mean "import" and mean that you went to "Menu -> Mail accounts" in Opera, chose, "Add" and added your mail.com account info in the new account wizard where you chose "IMAP" for the account type. But, when the wizard was completed, there were problems connecting to your account.
But, I'm unsure.

I am trying to collect my e mails direct from Mail.com,but get the message no e mail imported, when I know there is e mail there. I have 4 accounts at mail .com but am unable to retrieve the e mail from any of them on Opera
So you've added your mail.com accounts on Opera/Opera Mail and aren't being able to fetch your messages? That's it?
How exactly are you trying to "import" your mail?

Whoa!
What do you mean, Opera no longer has a mail client? I've been using it for years. Then, today, my update does not seem to have it. I never saw any notification. When did this happen? I switched to Opera because I couldn't get Thunderbird to work properly. Now Opera is gone? YYYIIIKKKEEESSS!!! -

Opera has a Standalone mail client and it works. It's essentially the mail client that was part of the older Presto (i.e. 12.17 and earlier) suite with the browser and other features hidden. Rumor has it that Opera will not continue the development of the mail component since the older suite is no longer being developed. That does not mean that the mail client will no longer work, however, one might consider exploring other mail options (i.e. The Bat, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.). You never received any notification since Opera 12 is not being updated and the new version of Opera is not an update but an entirely new browser, rewritten from the ground up.
