Why is the Extensions button in the address bar useless?

This button right here. What is the purpose?
I ask because I feel like if I cannot activate and deactivate the extensions from this button and I have to open the extensions page to manage the extensions so it is useless? I also already know what extensions are active because they show up in the address bar.
Solution: Can we make this bar a useful tool and give users the ability to manage the extensions within this button or just get rid of it if that is too much to ask for. Thanks.

This is exactly the purpose of this button: With it you can control which extensions you want to have displayed there. If you pin an extension, it always stays in the menubar, if not, it disappears again when you restart Opera (you have to reposition it).

@operaoperandi I wish I could manage the extensions from that button if it's purpose is just that. What I'm asking for is a way to turn an extension off and on without having to "remove" the extension.
Currently the only option is to use that button to open another window to manage your extensions.

@leocg ok, I understand how to enable and disable extensions. The problem is it is an extra step. I think the icon in the taskbar should allow you to do this to eliminate that extra step required if it is going to take up space on the taskbar. There are a ton of icons up there already.
So I feel the extension button is useless if it doesn't do anything besides showing and hiding extensions from the taskbar. If there is a way to hide the extension button then please let me know.
To further explain since my point is not getting across, this menu here could benefit from a simple on and off switch for extensions instead of just an unpin button. The only thing that I wish to unpin would be the Extensions Button that has no benefit to me. I don't need to hide the Extensions that I use and I only use 2. -
