I had to reset my computer. Is there any way to get back all of my Opera bookmarks without have to install them one by one all over again? Thank you.

@leocg I backed up everything on Carbonite. I re-installed all the Carbonite files but do not see Opera. Don't know what sync enabled means,

When I bought this computer (June 2020), I retrieved all of my files from Carbonite onto the new one - I am 99.9% sure that Opera loaded perfectly. Maybe this time it's "hiding" somewhere and I don't know where to look. I'm a Very low tech guy. Thank you.

@ljfried If you "re-installed all the Carbonite files but do not see Opera", how did you get the Opera installation that you currently have? IOW, there's some unclarity in your description of what you had backed up onto Carbonite and exactly what was involved in "resetting" your computer, as well as at what folder level you copied back the Opera files. Did the "resetting" of your computer involve a full image-restoration from Carbonite that included restoration of Windows itself, or did you first reinstall Windows from disks (or other media) and then pull down the Carbonite files?

@blackbird71 Thank you. I installed Opera this morning manually after Carbonite was finished. I had an HP tech guy "chatting" with me to help two days ago. I think I re-installed Windows "locally" - definitely not with disks. Don't know what IOW means. I think I backed up everything on Carbonite - there were 319,000 files and it took about 35 hours.

@ljfried Click in the Opera logo at the top left or press the ALT key.

@ljfried You probably need to replace the Bookmarks file in current Opera profile directory with the one in the backup.

@leocg Got it. Under Bookmarks, there are these choices: bookmarks; show bookmarks bar; add to bookmarks; trash; import bookmarks and setting; export bookmarks. Which do I choose? Thank you

@ljfried IOW is a common abbreviation for 'in other words'.

If you click on Bookmarks, it will show you what bookmarks are in the bookmarks file Opera is currently looking at. If you go to O(Menu) > Help > About Opera, it will give you the path to the Profile folder where Opera is currently looking for the bookmarks file. That is to where you would need to restore the Carbonite bookmarks file (be sure Opera is turned off while doing that restoration or it may lock the file, preventing restoration).

@ljfried What do you see for the path to the Profile folder? If you open Windows file explorer, can you navigate to that folder and see if there is a Bookmarks file present, and if so, what is its listed size? (edited to add:) Also, post here the full path terminology to the profile folder.

@ljfried You missed the second Bookmarks. The path is Menu > Bookmarks > Bookmarks. You also can get there by typing opera://bookmarks in the address bar.

It will lead you to the bookmarks manager page and will show you all the bookmarks in the current Opera installation.

@ljfried Did you also look at the "folders" in the left, in the bookmarks page?

The profile directory is where Opera stores your data. You can check the path to it in opera://about.

@ljfried Folder is just a word, of course there won't be anything named folder.
However there will be "folders", like Speed Dials, Other Speed Dials, Bookmarks bar, etc.
