Default search engine

I can't add duckduckgo as a default search engine. I did add it but its not there in the drop down menu. I really prefer duckduckg. Can anyone help me with this?

By "not in dropdown", you mean as text? Only the current default is actually listed there, and only one of the engines that come installed in Opera can be set as default. You can choose a non-default search engine by either clicking on it (though only 10 icons can be shown along the bottom of the dropdown) or using search keywords.
