Maybe Opera should check this out, this is a Browser I think is going in the right direction, it takes from both Chrome and Opera, I'm not saying I'm dumping Opera, but so far what I see I like, this is the new one on the block-----> http://www.slimjet.com/en/

Since you installed it and tried it out, what was it you didn't like about thier direction ? What was your specific take on thier direction, I thought people wanted options including yourself, every chrome extension and theme works on thier browser and people are patiently waiting for Opera to get out of it's infancy stage, If opera can learn from Chrome which is what Opera is based on, then it can learn from the others too.

Well, there are three SlimJet features that neither Chrome nor Opera can offer satisfactory alternatives for. Lets make a list of them:
- Customizable toolbar. There's not even a tiny bit of re-arranging or hiding possible with Opera or Chrome. Why would I want that? For some reason, a number of extension icons keep switching places between browser sessions in Opera, which is really annoying.
- Form filler. While Opera and Chrome do at least offer to save the log-in data of websites, the SlimJet form-filler is very easy to access and looks quite a bit like the solution of AvantBrowser. Said form/log-in data handling is probably the most comfortable one I've seen thus far, so why not have access to it in a Chrome-like browser as well?
- URL alias. This looks quite interesting, because SlimJet apparently offers the use of some kind of commands here. In Opera or Chrome, it doesn't matter which, your input in the omnibar and the results aren't customizable a lot (or at all). The following only has to do with the aliases peripherically, but one of Opera's big upsets is the lock on its standard search engines. Because I don't want a third party to know all of my search queries, the new Opera isn't even in contention for being my primary browser.

If opera can learn from Chrome which is what Opera is based on, then it can learn from the others too.
Opera is not based on Chrome, Opera is based on Chromium and they aren't the same thing.
And what exactly do you think that browser has to "teach" Opera? The list of major features is far from being something interesting and/or useful imho.

Opera was my default browser up until a couple of days ago and I have about 9 Browsers installed, I havent seen anything new or innovative out of the New Opera concerning any kind of options, except maybe a watered down attempt of some kind of bookmarks manager, I will leave Opera installed though for observation purposes of it's upcoming progress, but for now my default browser of choice is Slimjet,(Set as Default) Kudos for those that at least have the balls to give us at least some kind of options concerning customizationability and full Chrome extension/theme compatability.

Then Opera is evidently not for you. Go and be happy with your nine browsers. Why hang about here whining? I happen to love the new browser. And as Leo has already informed you, it is NOT based on Chrome. If I wanted Chrome, I would download and use Chrome.

Is there Maxthon among your nine browsers? I tried about five browsers and switched to Maxthon after Opera 12.17 and I am 90% happy with it (compared to 98% with the old Opera when it did still work - which it does not today).

C'mon guys, this is a petty argument and on top of that it is hair-splitting just to get the last word in. Even on the Chromium Wiki ( https://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/ChromiumBrowserVsGoogleChrome ), written by the guys who should know it after all, it is stated that "Google Chrome is the Chromium open source project built, packaged, and distributed by Google".
While it is technically correct to say that the new Opera is based on Chromium, you can't expect every Opera user out there to be that computer-savvy to know the difference between an open source project and the slightly edited version Google puts out. You're doing nobody any good with that, because this kind of behavior from some of the most active people on this forum, it can only lead to users deciding this place is too hostile for them to stay. If that's your intention however, you're certainly doing a fine job in mobbing the critics and driving them away from Opera forever.

Actually I meant to say Chromium, I figured anyone reading the posts would know what I meant and I didnt really think it was that big a deal, but apparently some people think it is.

Actually I only has 8 browsers I have 9 browsers now and they are----> Cyberfox, cyberdragon, FlashPeak Slimjet, Opera 23, Opera Dev, SrwareIron, Firefox, Comodo Ice Dragon, and Comodo Dragon, I'll probably start thinning a few of them out now, I'll keep the Comodos, SrwareIron, and Firefox and especially Slimjet now that it's earned it way to my default browser setting, A multi-engined browser such as Maxthon has never interested me, I've never tried it and don't plan on it, but that doesn't mean it's not a fine browser deserving of your attention.

So after more than a year of hanging on with v12.1x, and getting tired of all the crashes on Windows 8, I tried a few other browsers. Avant, Lunascape, finally Maxthon.
Avant immediately got uninstalled, I can't remember why. Lunascape I really tried but it was very slow and crashed more than Opera.
And then I tried Maxthon, and I actually am almost completely satisfied with it. I would say it has 95% of the core features that made Opera such an awesome browser for the last decade (mouse gestures, shortcuts for direct searching from address bar, private browsing, feed reader, There are features it doesn't have that I will miss from Opera v12, namely: 1) can't put tabs on bottom (used all the time) 2) can't save multiple tabs as a session (used frequently) 3) can't do per-site configuration (used rarely) 4) can't specify how to open certain file types, or configure plugins to do it
Overall, it is also much less configurable, but I think it more than makes up for this with a couple features that Opera wasn't very good at:
- syncs almost everything across machines with a Maxthon sync account (bookmarks, passwords, plugins, settings, tabs, speed dial) 2) has a cloud push feature which allows you to "send" a tab from your computer to your phone or vice versa to continue reading later 3) built-in and accessible user agent custom string (Opera's was hidden in opera:config) 4) so far renders every web page flawlessly
I know this forum has been filled with people like myself, who prefer Presto Opera to the New Opera, how many have tried Maxthon, and how many think it can replace Opera for them as a main browser? Any tips or tricks to get it to behave more like Opera?
