  • I just installed the new Opera (23) again after trying it once before. I browsed around a bit and finally logged into my Gmail account. As soon as I did that Opera suddenly installed a bunch of extensions...without asking me. I am pretty sure they are the once I used during my first try of Opera (Adblock, Ghostery, Youtube extender...), but my question is:

    How did Opera/Google recognise me?

I do not remember ever linking my Google account to Opera in any way. Where does Opera save information about my exentions and how did they link it to my google account?
How can Opera broswer know if I log into a supposly secure website (SSL)?

In short, what's going on here? I find this rather creepy to be honest...

  • Opera does not have any extension sync feature and also is not connected to your gmail account, although you can use it in Sync.

Most probably your old profile folder was still there and the new install reused it.
