I had the same problem, I was trying to upload a custom wallpaper I made in Canva and it wasn't working as a PNG. So I turned it into an SVG and all of a sudden it worked.

I'm still having the same issue where my wallpaper is just a black/grey screen even after trying everything but if it helps I noticed that if you go into easy set-up top right the wallpapers that don't work look like they are cut in half in the use custom wallpaper

you have to do alt + p seacrh enable wallpaper and turn it off and on and then close opera gx and then re-open it and it should work

I found a solution and it works for me perfectly. You need after installation of the live wallpaper to put it on the first (top) place in the mods (opera mods settings)

If you haven't tried yet, goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the "profile" path, close Opera and delete the "Themes" folder in the profile folder. Then, start Opera, add some wallpapers and see if they work. Also, for local images that you add as wallpaper, beware of this filename bug.

I downloaded a wallpaper from opera and everytime I close opera it switches to that wallpaper and even if I turn off wallpapers it turns it back on and switches to that wallpaper

@chillie17 Are you sure that's not a mod? Make sure no mod has a wallpaper enabled and then a regular wallpaper should work.

@chillie17 Was it a live wallpaper from https://store.gx.me/mods/?tagAlias=live-wallpaper or a regular wallpaper from https://store.gx.me/mods/?tagAlias=wallpaper? If so, as said, those come from mods that override Opera's default wallpaper settings. To see installed mods and remove them, goto the URL
opera://mods
. There's also an icon in the sidebar to load that page. Also note that if you just want regular wallpapers that are not from mods, you can get them at https://addons.opera.com/en/wallpapers/?gx. Those ones can easily be uninstalled by click the X for them like normal wallpapers you add.

Do a test and see if it works with hardware accelerated turned off at the URL opera://settings/system (restart of Opera required).

I could use some help here. I've tried several of the suggested fixes for my issue, but mine seems to be different. I find that with my mods, Opera GX refuses to change to the modded wallpaper automatically. This is the case with only one mod active, and I have to manually change the wallpaper every time. Anyone got a fix?
