@regelepuma The same happened to me few days ago... now I tried to and managed to fix it, cause... now I noticed, that there is no wallpaper somehow. xD It happened probably when I cleared website content hold by opera (cookie, local data etc).
As most things in IT is fixed by.. reboot of PC/given app, here it's fixed by disabling and enabling the wallpapers in the properties.

Go to Update and Recovery option. Then check for update. After the installation of the update is completed, there will be a relaunch button. Press on it. That's how I got it.

i think i found a way to fix it first you disable wall paper then you close all opera tabs then you reopen it then turn wall papers back on then it worked for me

I have had a similar issue but found that the best way to fix it so far is to completely close opera and reopen, after that the backgrounds are back. This is on the most recent update as of 3/28/2023

I had the same problem, I was trying to upload a custom wallpaper I made in Canva and it wasn't working as a PNG. So I turned it into an SVG and all of a sudden it worked.

I'm still having the same issue where my wallpaper is just a black/grey screen even after trying everything but if it helps I noticed that if you go into easy set-up top right the wallpapers that don't work look like they are cut in half in the use custom wallpaper

I found a solution and it works for me perfectly. You need after installation of the live wallpaper to put it on the first (top) place in the mods (opera mods settings)
