      Version: 72.0. 3815.138
      Win 7 Home Premium

      When the Opera shortcut icon is clicked, 'Properties' is selected, and 'Normal' or 'Maximized' is selected beside 'Run,' the webpage layout looks the same.

      Is there a glitch or am I missing a detail?

          The format is displayed the 'same' whether Opera is opened in 'normal' mode or in 'maximized' mode.

          The first time that it was changed to 'maximized,' the browser was not closed and the second time is was closed and re-opened.

          However, the layout looks the same in 'normal' in it does in 'maximized' mode.

          Am I missing a detail or is there a glitch?

              @leocg

              What is 'supposed' to happen when the maximize option is selected?

              Should the page turn to full screen mode without displaying the URL address bar above and the toolbar below?

              Are you using Win 7 or 10?

              Is this a Windows glitch or an Opera glitch?

                @sporty78 Opera should start maximized. That's what happens with other programs when that option is enabled.

                Nope, full screen is a different thing.

                I'm on Windows 10

                Probably an Opera issue since other programas don't have the same problem.

                  *You stated that Opera 'should' start in maximized mode-However, the 'default' is normal mode unless it is changed to maximized mode via the shortcut.,

                  What is the difference between normal mode and maximized mode?

                  I also use Firefox and the issue exists with that browser as well.

                    @sporty78 Normal window is a non-maximized and non-minimized window.

                    Usually is that windows that doesn't occupy the whole screen. The maximize button on it shows a square.

                    I've checked with Chrome and it worked. Firefox doesn't seem to be working either.

                    Now I'm really not sure if those options are supposed to work.

                      What I see in the top right corner of the Firefox page is a bottom line (Minimize), a square inside a square (Restore Down) and the 'X' (Close), and the shortcut setting shows 'normal,' so I assume that I am in normal mode.

                      When I click 'Restore Down,' it halves the page into half a page.

                      'If' the shortcut 'maximize' option was selected (and it worked), what three icons should be displayed in the top right corner of the page?

                        @sporty78 You seem to be on a maximized window. Clicking on the two squares icon will turn it into a normal window.

                          Clicking on the 'two windows' icon halves the page-Since when is a half page 'normal' mode?

                          Try it and you will see what I mean.

                            @sporty78 Yes, it can be a normal window.

                              To be clear, a 'normal window' is expressed as a half window and a 'maximized window' is expressed as a normal' size for the screen?

                              Even if that accurate, it does not explain why the window is maximized when 'normal window' was selected in the shortcut list.

                                  My window is obviously maximized (since the two squares represent 'restore down'). When I click on this icon, the page is condensed from filling up the entire monitor to half the size (in other words, the window is condensed on the right side and I can see the desktop on the left side of the screen).

                                  Additionally, the Opera shortcut shows a 'normal window' was selected so it does not make sense why the screen is in maximized mode,.

                                    @sporty78 Because your normal/restored window looks like that.

                                    And as we already pointed out, those options in the shortcuts properties does not seem to work with Opera.

                                      Okay, so the shortcut option stays as 'normal window' even though it displays a maximized screen?

                                      Additionally, selecting 'normal window' or 'maximized' window from the shortcut menu will display a maximized window.

                                        @sporty78 That option is for the user to set up how s/he would like the window to open. It doesnt change based on the current window state. And that option will not always work.
