When a PDF opens in Opera 12.16 it freezes the browser. I have to close the whole browser and then when its loading stop the pdf loading really fast otherwise it freezes it again because I have it set to load previous windows when restarting. I tried to set Foxit (awesome PDF reader) to handle PDF's but its not working at all. I set it at both pdf and .pdf in the protocol. Is there anything else I can do? I realize I download it to open it with my PDF reader manually but that wastes time. There must be something blocking this from working.

I can't believe we can't edit our posts here. All of us make errors at times. Webmasters, please add this feature that almost every forum on the planet offers.
I set mp3 files to open with my audio player and that doesn't work either. But it doesn't freeze the browser thankfully. If it didn't freeze the browser I would love Opera to handle these simple chores. Magnet files using Utorrent do work perfectly. And the mailto one is perfect (to the stand alone Operamail).

You can edit your posts up to 30 minutes after the original post time.

Sometimes you need to reload the page for the edit menu to show up.

Seconds after I posted there was no ability to edit that I saw. Its usually a word called Edit. In the frame. Maybe I'm blind.

OK - in their brilliance they hid the Edit option under the */star icon. I will never understand the incredibly illogical decisions of web"masters" and I use the word masters with the utmost derision. All the time I see mind bending incompetence on so many websites. With all this technology, people are getting progressively dumber and dumber. And fast too. Right now I'm typing in a text size about 1/3 the size of the size that will be posted. That's logical. I guess my eyes are going to get immediately worse upon hitting "Post comment". That makes sense.

I appreciate the advice and tips here, make no mistake on that. I just point out that web "designers" are for the most part total idiots and why this is, I have no idea. If you ran a business like that you'd be out of business in a week.

Look at Opera. We go from a very customizable browser to...what? Its all gone. That is progress I guess. Removing options from people that can think.

Preferences > Advanced > Downloads > uncheck "hide file types..." > select pdf (or any other you want to change > Edit > Choose the best option for you.

FYI, after you make a posting, you may need to refresh the web-page to get the edit capability to appear. When it does, it will be found within the light grey 'gear' symbol under your post-count on the particular post (via a left-click).

This worked perfectly. Too bad the designers don't streamline this and make it clear for new users.
There should be an area for Default Programs. Music, text, and video programs would cover it for most of us.

While it's a nice idea, code development has ended for the "old" Presto Opera desktop browser series (through 12.xx) other than urgent security patches... all real development and improvements are focused on the new "Blink" Opera series.
