Opera password error Sync
JAVOB last edited by
Hello, I changed my password of my Opera user and reinstalled a version of Opera GX and as I saved my password of my Opera user I reset it and now I get a message that I cannot synchronize my passwords:
*Unable to synchronize passwords
Your saved passwords were encrypted with an Opera account password which has been changed.
If you know your previous Opera account password, you can enter it now. If not, you can reset your saved passwords.*
If I changed my password it was because I did not remember and now it asks me again, what a fool.
I don't want to lose my old passwords, what can I do?

@leocg I have the same problem. My old account was with a username and there is no way to enter a user name. and log in, it will only accept an email address, on the other hand the Forum accepts my old user name and password. However I cannot retrieve my old passwords because I cannot tell Opera that my previous account was an old "username" type account.
Can I go find an older version of Opera and log in and somehow get my passwords?

@leocg Yes, but I just reset it, I already had a new password associated with my email address, I could log in with that, but it said my passwords were encoded by using my old password and not the newer one that I've had for the past three or four years. When someone changes their password, the saved password store, should be unencrypted and then stored with the new password automatically.
I'm not losing much, I have most of my passwords written down, including my Opera account password, but what Opera wanted for me to unencrypt my password store was my old password.
That makes no sense and I had already erased my old password from my paper password book, if I had scratched it out, maybe I could read it, but my old password must have been a dozen years ago or so as I've been using my current password for a long time.
