Presto Opera: How to close just current web page?

  • According to what you said here:

Would be better if hovering would show a horizontal grid of thumbnails or even a list view of all pages with a close button.

Option 3 in the list of ideas I posted seem most fitting from what I can tell.

But I am confused by what you mean by contents. Are you looking for a full sized, real-time preview of all tabs opened, so you can see (read) the contents as if you were looking at the normal web page ?.

So you have the tabs in the tab bar at top. What I imagine is to hover over a tab and it will show either thumbnails or list of the pages visited in that tab, with a close button (X). Wish I knew how to make extensions 🙂

  • Oh!!!, you mean tab history ?.

  • Oh!!!, you mean tab history ?.

    Yeah..Tab history. Sorry

  • "It's"
    Where ?.

    Here:

Rather its the contents of the tab that are not easy to view and manage.
I guessed it was "it is", right?

  • I guessed it was "it is", right?

Yes, you guessed right, I just could not see/find it, that's all.

  • If you have switched to a tab, you can view that tab's "local history" through click-and-hold on the Back/Forward buttons or keyboard shortcuts (in the "9.2 Compatible" setup anyway). But you do have to switch to the tab first - no way to do it while a different tab is focused. And, no way to remove something from the local history other than going back to a previous item then browsing somewhere else - which removes every later item from the history.

If Opera is closed, you could edit the session file (it isn't hard), but that's the only way to be selective about it (keeping both earlier and later items).

  • So does anyone know if it's possible to make such an extension, to hover over a tab and get thumbnails or list view of tab history with the ability to close them. If its possible I could attempt to learn how to make extensions and do it myself. Otherwise don't want to waste my time. Thanks

  • Dude, "close them" means make them not active. They're already not active - they're history!:)

Well we disagree. To me if its still there in the list waiting on me to hit the back or forward button then it is active, heck, it even takes be back to position I was on the page. They can be overwritten somehow but I think you know what I mean.

For example, if one starts to type in the address bar it pops up history of typed searches and hovering over any of the items show a "close button" an actual x. Its not a new concept, I am just wondering if this can be implemented into the tabs history as well so that hovering over a tab will show that history. I believe I would need less tabs like that

I mean tabs are Ok, but they can be a pain also. I am constantly opening in new tabs and browse with the history panel open just not to get lost
