Did you download the snap package? Or the .deb file? The snap package runs all the codecs for video playing perfectly on Linux (not widevine for Netflix though) if it was the .deb file you might run into problems

@U1traVio1et oooh that's how it is.. Yes, I used .deb file. So, codec licensing issues I suppose? I did try to use Snap version and it works fine indeed, I will keep using that then, thanks!

@eimantasks None of the possible solutions given in the several other topics about the same problem helped?

No worries, nothing to do with licensing, I think it's because everything to make the browser work is in the snap package, the .deb file uses other stuff from different sources on your system and that's where opera trips up

@leocg I found a topic with some libraries, and links to those libraries on github, I tried that solution but those libraries might be outdated or I did something wrong, it didn't work.
https://forums.opera.com/topic/33466/videos-in-html5-will-not-work/8
also tried to follow
https://forums.opera.com/topic/35411/cannot-play-videos-in-website/8
which only made me more confused.
But simply using Snap version solves it. -

@U1traVio1et Yes, it has to do with licensing. See https://forums.opera.com/post/150324
