Recovering deleted browser history

If you have recent backups of the "History", "History Provider Cache", and "History-journal" files, you can replace (while Opera is closed), the existing ones with copies of the backups.
If you used Opera Sync to sync your history and it's still on sync.opera.com, you could create a new Opera profile and log into sync.

Unfortunately not.
It's not synced with any other devices anyway.

I wasn't even aware of Sync before; can that be used as a backup service ?
I recently have had a PUP on this computer, and had to follow instructions from 'Bleeping Computer' forums, in order to try and remedy that.

@mjbj24121 Nope, no sync service should be used as a backup service.

So, in future, how can I go about backing up everything e.g. bookmarks, history, etc ?
And can I retrieve it in future to import, in situations like this ?

@mjbj24121 Just backup Opera's profile directory. For passwords you need to export them or use sync.

If this is going to help my case any, my current version of Opera is 68.0.3618.165.

@mjbj24121 You backup it like you backup anything, you create a copy somewhere else.
For the path to the profile directory, go to Menu > Help > About Opera or type opera://about on address bar.

I don't know whether this would be any use, but I upgraded to W10 2004 on 16th.
The Windows.old file is still on the computer.
Would that be any use ?
Thanks.
