@croupf Opera uses the directory you have selected in settings. By default it's the Downloads directory on Windows.

@leocg , I'm talking the mobile android version. There's a normal accessible directory called "downloads" where Chrome deposits files, but Opera plops them somewhere else that I can't see from outside of the browser. Its like I have two "download" directories: a visible one, and an invisible one that only Opera can read.

@croupf Well, you've posted in Opera for Windows. Moving it to Opera for Android.

@leocg , ah, damn. Sorry about it. I guess I searched for something and ended up here w/o looking. Thanks.

@croupf You are talking about Opera for Android or Opera Mini? Opera for Android here seems to use the Android's download folder.

@leocg , it doesn't say "mini" anywhere. Just Opera.

@croupf At least here, Opera is using the default downloads directory of Android 9, the one you can access from the Files app.

You can choose the download folder in Opera Mobile settings.

@yeswap , yes, "downloads" is selected. But with a little droid utility called "Downloads" I cant see any Opera downloads, though everything I got with Chrome is there, and can be used directly, w/o involving Chrome. Opera's downloads I can only see on Opera's Downloads page and nowhere else. If I want to open a .PDF file (that got downloaded with Opera) I have to do it from Opera.

@croupf Does your phone have a memory card? If so Chrome is probably downloading to Downloads in internal memory and Opera to Downloads on the card. Use a file manager app to check both directories. and switch Opera to download to the directory that Chrome is using.

@yeswap , it's not a phone, it's an old tablet. It does not have an extra memory card, only what it was built with at the time of manufacture.

@croupf Strange that Opera is downloading to a directory named Downloads that you can't find in your file structure.
A couple of things to try.

                            • In your file manager search for a file that you downloaded with Opera to find where it's stored. If you don't have a file manager or yours doesn't have a file search, I recommend installing Amaze File Manager , it's free, ad-free and open source.
                            • Or, create a folder with a name like Opera downloads and choose it as your downloads folder in Opera settings.

@yeswap , right, I don't have a file manager. I dont really know that well this environment: it seems to only have a primitive viewer for Downloads. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try this file manager you mentioned.
