Flash Shockwave Issues

Hi All -

Recently I've been having problems with Flash Shockwave, getting the message:

"The "Shockwave Flash" plug-in is slowing down your Mac. You can wait for it to recover or stop it now."

This is happening a lot making browsing difficult. I downloaded the most recent Flash player but it didn't help.

What can I do? Any advice much appreciated!
