I have gone through the settings and turned off the speedbar shite, I have also set DuckDuckGo as my preferred search engine so why is Google still showing where there speed dial was?
You could have spent the time doing a research. It's mentioned in the FAQ

How do I remove search from address bar at the top?
You can't.
How to I remove Google (or others) from the potential list of search providers?
Not possible

Oh one last thing, which idiot designed this forum software and thinks that users want a 3 line letterbox to write text into when there is a whole bloody screen of space (filled with shite I do not need or want to see when I am creating a post.
You can resize it.
And if you call someone idiot again, you will be banned.

@leocg Someone seems to be on a power trip
This is what happens on some forums
Not a problem, I can always go to a thousand other forums and make comments freely without some power mad moderator making threats, the sites I will make those comments on will have much more authority that this forum, if I am in the mood I can make such comments using scrapbox which can post to 12m sites overnight.
So if you carry out your threat consider how that helps the reputation of Opera if I post all over the web.
I post here so that Opera change but if you can't take criticism not a problem, I will make it elsewhere.

That link does not take me to a solution, you could have spent the time being helpful and just provided the answer or point to a specific page than answers the question..

@fckopera It says that you can hide the search filed of start page in settings. So, if you want to hide it, opend the settings page and do it. Very simple.
Sorry "the search filed" what is that
I did open the setting page but unless you point to a specific line I cannot know what you mean, there are hundreds of options in there.
Very simple if you know it.

@fckopera It should be search field.
That setting is in the Start Page section of the settings page
What is the point of having a setting that says open a specific page if when I set it a page with GOOGLE opens not the page I chose.
Open a specific page or set of pages
DuckDuckGo — Privacy, simplified.
https://start.duckduckgo.com/This is what I mean by Opera has sold it's soul.
