Opera 68 is very slow if using Speed Dial

Opera 68.0.3618.63 is very slow

I reported the speed dial issue some time ago (https://forums.opera.com/topic/32234/solved-opera-60-0-3255-70-slow-speed-dial-loading) but this is a bit different issue.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install 67.0.3575.137 and clear both roaming and local profile
2. Open 40 Opera windows
3. Check the time needed to open 41st window. It should be about 1 or 2 seconds
4. Install Opera 68.0.3618.63
5. Open 40 Opera windows and clear both roaming and local profile
6. Check the time needed to open 41st window. It will be about 20 seconds. If there are a lot of items in Speed Dial window would open ever slower. While opening new window Opera is using 100% 2 cores CPU (i5-6200U).

Also there are other speed issues, Google Maps is working much slower in 68, it is also almost impossible to use Opera forums.

UPD
As a temporary solution I've downgraded back to 67.0.3575.137.

Same issue here. Speed dial is very slow. I have around 100 items in Speed Dial. It was working fine with Opera 67.

Only single window, ~10 tabs opened at the same time. But after I rolled back to Version: 67.0.3575.97 now its working fast again. So its definitively issue with v68 only.

I have the same problem
Also, the speed dial is slow
Two older versions had no problems
I have 272 tabs
While opening newtab Opera is using almost 100% 8 cores CPU (i9-9900k).

Ok, Opera 68.0.3618.104 is much better, but still very slow.

67.0.3575.137: 2 seconds
68.0.3618.63: 15 seconds
68.0.3618.104: 10 seconds

I updated opera a few days ago and 68.0.3618.104 is very unstable for me. Site such as youtube have loading and playback issues ( video and no sound until the video stops and the sound plays).

I'm not sure what has changed but those issues were not present in the previous versions.

Hi everyone, if your Opera is extremely slow, disable "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I don't know what the developers did, but HA makes Opera unusable (Opera Stable, Opera GX)

Hi i am also having the same problem with slow pages and youtube playback errors but the main issue that i am having is a stupid shopping bar show up. I am hoping that someone can help me get rid of it.

I fixed my shopping comparison bar, it was in Avira browser safety settings.

My 67.0.3575.137 is telling that there is a security update, so I checked 68.0.3618.165

New window is opened almost instantly if speed dial is hidden and takes about 10 seconds when speed dial is shown. CPU usage is almost 100% while opening new window. 67.0.3575.137 is working fast with the same amount of windows and speed dial bookmarks.

In 68.0.3618.173 problem persists.
I have open about 220 tabs in 16 windows and more than 60 items in Speed Dial.

During typing text into Speed Dial's search box, opera froze for about 30-60 seconds. (so I rather using address bar for google searching instead)

It did not happen in 67 and older versions.
