Does the bookmarks bar automatically connect to sites?

Whenever I enable the bookmarks bar, my Avast antivirus pops up saying it has blocked a connection to 9anime.to saying it apparently blocked a trojan from that site. Or something among those lines.
Is it just blocking my saved bookmark file, or is Opera actually automatically connecting to 9anime.to the moment I display the bookmarks bar?
...In the case that it's actually connecting, is it a virus? Or is Opera actually connecting to ALL my bookmarks?

@soupsenpai29 It probably connect to the sites to get the thumbnails.

I see https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/671b2cba83beb308113fc498dba00e0a2607c722206a972b131012c5a0c297a4/detection and https://www.urlvoid.com/scan/9anime.to/ for the site. All reports except one say it's safe.

Might help to ask on https://forum.avast.com/index.php to see if it's a false positive for site.
