Opera Mail and limiting email downloading

Hello all.
I'm looking into installing Opera Mail in my PC, but I can't seem to find any setting that allows me to limit email downloading to my computer, neither during the account setting nor in the regular preferences. The user manual in this webpage seems to be outdated, since I can't find the settings that supoosedly can be found in the account settings before importing anything locally.
The thing is I'm running a computer with a limited HDD and the accounts I would be managing through Opera Mail have a huge amount of emalils with lots of attachments.
So I'm looking for the location of the setting that defines that O Mail should look for mails from a given amount of days and not earlier (I currently have no use for mails that go years back, but I have to keep them at the servers for job reasons).
Also, I'm not using IMAP, but POP3. Does that mean that emails take space in my HDD?
Thanks!

You probably already saw these options, but check Mail Accounts, highlight one of you accounts & click Edit / Incoming messages. There are several choices for handling the account's mail in relation to server. Some of the options may be useful for your purposes & they can be set on a per account basis.
I'm no expert... there may be other approaches

Nope, that's not it. In the Incoming tab there's no option similar to "Only retrieve emails more recent than X days/months/years ago". I'm having a hard time believing that this feature is somehow unusual.

There isn't such option. Opera will download all the available messages.
Depending on your mail service, you can limit it on the service's settings.

I've not check the stand alone Opera Mail, but the integrated mail in Presto versions of Opera 12.17 and older have an option to set 'Low-bandwidth mode' which limits the size, contents and attachment of each message. So basically all messages will still be downloaded, it's just that any large contents or attachment such as images, documents, sound files etc will be omitted. You'll just end up with the main body text of the email.

For low-bandwidth mode for POP, it should rely on the Fetch Max Lines option in accounts.ini in the mail folder. The default is 100. You can try to tweak it if you really really want too. Just edit the file while Opera is closed.
