@leocg, that's weird. Workspace is/was a tab group that now is Workspaces. It seems like it's tab groups with new clothes. I believe that this comment was probably a misunderstanding.

@rodrigocipriani Workspaces are a way to organize windows and tabs by theme, by subject.

Also I don't know if Chromium allows to have multiple isolated sessions.

It allows because a certain browser running on Chromium has profiles for a long time. And yes, you can even run several profiles at once.

My proposals for changes in Opera (Google Document).

I believe that what the majority here is saying is that workspace is a nice feature, and everyone loves it, but it would be a lot more useful if you could choose to start a new workspace by sharing the session or using a new one.

Workspaces are just a visual separation of tabs. They're still all on the main tab bar behind the scenes.

Chromium doesn't provide a way for a single tab (or a group of tabs) to have its own cache, cookies, history and session etc., so this wish/suggestion isn't practically possible in Opera. So, this suggestion is almost a no-go from the start.

However, it might be possible to implement this if Opera would spend the huge amount of time and resources to implement the behavior on top of Chromium and patch in the changes every time Opera is built. It's a long shot though. Also, in this case, Opera would have to maintain this huge patch and fix it every time Chromium changes something and breaks it.

A more realistic change would be to get Chromium to provide an extension API to do this so that Opera could implement this with a component extension.

This wish/suggestion would still be cool for those that want it though. It's just not a simple thing to have.

@rodrigocipriani Exactly. Why someone would be so against adding a feature that wouldn't affect existing features is beyond me.

Terminology might be causing some confusion and could for users I guess. This could be implemented as a new feature called "Sessions" or something with similar accessibility from the sidebar.

I use one computer for work and personal, being able quickly switch between sessions or easily have separate windows with different accounts (not necessarily profiles) logged in would be a game changer. Right now I just have to use a different browser for each.

                    @intrepidpursuit Yeah, that's it!
Microsoft Edge allows multiple instances of the browser to be opened simultaneously, making it the best option currently available.

@edmarcio For Firefox: addon Container Tab Groups with containers group; labels; etc.
With this addon, you do not need to have the Firefox Container Groups addon installed

I just created my account to support this. We need profiles/workspaces with different sessions/cookies/storage.
This is kinda becoming a deal breaker to me.

I'd consider moving to Opera if they had support for this. Containers is absolutely required workflow once you start using it there is no moving back.

Just created an account to support this.

I don't care what the feature/function is called - I just want a simple list that I can add a *.domain space to.
Having a domain on this list should result in every new session to this domain space being created in an isolate process that cannot bridge information from other sessions' open or cached data.

The private window option is insufficient as its far too easy to invertedly open sites you want isolated within an existing shared session.

Thinking to switch to another browser because all the day's i switch from different account's (multilogin extension seems to not be working)

@hm55 Vivaldi premiered an enhanced session feature. That also involves open spaces, so no need to keep changing profiles, either.

@hm55 Workspaces are just a visual separation of tabs on the tab bar. That's it. Opera hasn't said, but I personally doubt workspaces will ever evolve to use separate sessions.

@burnout426 Arc Browser has it. Not differents sessions but profiles. In addition to the ability to customize each workspace and create folders and tabs.
