I started getting Fraud Warning messages

I started getting Fraud Warning messages when visiting sites. the messages look like:

Fraud warning
This site may be hacked or fraudulent. Giving it passwords or personal information could put you at risk for identity theft or financial fraud.

Opera Software strongly discourages visiting this page.
Go back safely
Ignore this warning

My version is:
Version:66.0.3515.72
Opera is up to date
Update stream:Stable
System:Windows 7 64-bit

I can find no way in Opera to turn off this fraud checking. Right now It takes close to 20 seconds for this checking to take place so I click on a site and 20 seconds later I will get this Fraud Warning message.

First off, while this may be a useful service for some, I find it damn right annoying and it makes Opera useless for me.

If Opera is going to offer this service then they need to have a way to turn it off or at least allow the the user to set up a site white list. I don't need a nanny!

Right now Opera is useless.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there a published way of turning off this Fraud Warning?

@tjblues In Opera's settings page, you can disable the option Protect me from malicious sites (or something like that).

@tjblues There are a number of vendors that maintain lists of URLs noted to have fraud or hacked-website complaints reported against them. Browsers that perform "malicious site" checks will use these vendor lists to flag risky URLs a user is attempting to reach, in the manner you're seeing. There are various criteria for a site getting listed in that way, and various mechanisms for sites unfairly listed to get themselves removed from the warning lists. Over time, I have come across a few sites that have managed to get onto such lists, but they are typically very few and far between in ordinary browsing. Moreover, I've never encountered or heard of such protection lists malfunctioning and mis-warning against broad numbers of legitimate sites.

So, while the 'protection' feature can be disabled in Opera, you should recognize that if there are large numbers of such sites you are encountering, that may raise a red flag about the nature of the browsing that is contributing to that. Even if one doesn't buy something or provide personal info at such a site, there is a real risk of hacked site code causing infection or crypto-mining on your system. (Just sayin'.)
