[Solved]Is Power User still a thing? / How do I remove the Google search bar on the Start window?

Hi!
I've been wanting to get rid of the Google search bar on the home screen, for which I apparently need Power User mode. I'm on a fresh install, so no plugins. I go to settings, click somewhere other than the Search bar, and type Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right b a - and nothing happens.
I read somewhere on these forums that all the Power User functionality is now just in the Settings screen, but I don't know if that is true. But if so, how do I remove the Google search bar from the Start window?

@philipstone You can hide the start page search in settings.
Nothing special is required.

I'd browsed up and down the Settings menu multiple times but never thought I was looking to enable an option rather than disable one. Thanks
