Extensions don't work if Opera is started with --private, even if allowed

Hello,
I think Opera in general is an awesome browser. But I do have a rather irritating problem: in Private Mode, the extensions don't work.
According to the moderator on https://forums.opera.com/topic/15312/start-in-private-mode-with-extensions, that's a bug. If so, it's a bug that's already 3,5 years old. Then how come it hasn't been fixed yet?

@leocg - Good question: it's the same in Google Chrome. I never realized that, due to that I rarely use that browser. In Firefox, the extensions do work in Private Browsing mode.
But has the Chromium team ever been asked by the Opera team whether it could be fixed?
