What's going on with the Opera?

I've noticed that there's been something wrong with the Opera for over a year now. Each new update brings new bugs. The development team seems to be deaf to community voices and reported bugs. The stability of the application is getting worse and worse. It is not known what to expect from the update. Instead of new features and improvements to UX, there are new problems and advertising. Sometimes I get the impression that Opera is not tested before a new version is released.

Can anyone explain what happened? Why has the quality level fallen so much?

I agree with the op, been having my own issues of late tho I am not sure if they are associated with updates.
I noticed yesterday there are banner ads popping up now on the page that appears when I open a new tab, it says 'Speed Dial' in the tab label. Banners promoting the likes of Amazon, AliExpress, eBay and Booking.com
I cannot get rid of them.
Is there any way to remove them, or have a different page when I open a new tab, or is that the price you pay now for using Opera ?
